Tyler Dunbar, co-owner of Wild Earth Inside, is a genuine and distinct tradesman of the forest. Tyler harnesses his fascination for the raw grains and striations of backcountry landscapes into fresh and imaginative furniture making and pieces of art.
Tyler originally pulled inspiration in his past working for a revolutionary building movement based around harvesting retired man-made resources into livable and sustainable homes and structures. Materials such as used tires, recycled plastics and metals were highlighted as useful discarded goods meant to motivate and alter a common dismissing mentality based around garbage and waste. The process involved creativity, innovation and practicality to establish something beautiful and functional as well as constructing a home with less of an imprint of bought and new materials.
The same underlying advantage of transforming discarded materials, is an ongoing continuum of energy that inspires Tyler in his work today. It is a similar resonance and understanding; the power of human thoughts on upcycling in general and harvesting the unique collapsing features of the forest into artistic and functional materials, which otherwise the forest would gracefully and naturally transform on its own.
Wild Earth Inside allows an outlet for Tyler to express his passion for intentional transformation of materials into another powerful cycle of usage. Burnscars, environmental breakdown, natural beauty and natural decay of the forest and landscape are the prime resources used in Tyler’s furniture making and artistic creations. His hope for those who share in the joy of his work is to further inspire the concepts of upcycling and continually follow the examples of nature and its mastery.
